What’s New and Ongoing at the Library and in the Community
Greetings and Happy New Year! Multnomah County Library’s Adult Literacy program would like to
share the latest updates about the services and programs we offer to the community. Please feel free

English learners at the library


Talk Time: A safe place for English language learners to practice conversation.
One-to-One tutoring for ESOL: We have a waitlist, but we can place some new learners
English learners in the community
Portland ESL network: an organization that shares information about ESL classes offered in the
greater Portland metro area and beyond.


GED Learners


GED: Meet virtually with a GED Educator (English and Spanish)
Talk with the Library’s GED educator about getting your General Educational Development (GED)
certificate.
● Free tutoring (must be 18 or older) and free study materials
● Free testing: When you are ready we will help with your test fees
● Connect to college and jobs

Volunteers recruitment
Do you know someone who is looking for a volunteer opportunity? We are recruiting volunteer tutors
for the Spanish GED program, one-on-one tutoring for GED and beginning ESOL and Talk Time.
